‘Advantage India From Challenge to Opportunity’ touted as the last book of the late former president Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam co-authored with Srijan Pal Singh was launched at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) today.
In the book published by Harper Collins India, Dr Kalam, writing with Srijan Pal Singh, draws upon examples ranging from entrepreneurship in places like Badshahnagar, a small town of Eastern UP to a sophisticated missile programme like Agni to show how it can be Advantage India in the last lap of the journey to 2020 – the landmark year by which he had envisioned the country could transform into an economic power. How can the new initiatives – such as Make in India, Swachh Bharat, smart cities and skill development for the youth– be used to unleash the country’s vast potential.

Launching the book Prof. Ashish Nanda, Director, IIMA said, “Dr. Kalam, the 11 th president of India, was a great human being, a great scientist, inspiring individual, a revered guide, and a dear friend of the Institute. He had close ties with IIMA. His association with the Institute started during his early days, when he worked with our founding father Dr. Vikram Sarabhai in Mumbai. In recent years, despite his busy schedule, Dr. Kalam would make it a point to accept our Professor Anil Gupta’s invitation to come every year to IIMA and interact with our students. Mr. Srijan Pal Singh, our alumnus and co-au-author of his last book ‘Advantage India – From Challenge to Opportunity’, worked closely with him on many of his academic projects. It is an honor to participate in this book launch, and pay homage to a great soul.”
Mr. Pal had previously co-authored Target 3 Billion (2011) with Dr Kalam.
