Secularism not Dharm Nirpeksha, but Panth Nirpeksha: Rajnath (Video)

Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh today while speaking on Constitution day in Lok Sabha said that usage of the word ‘Dharma Nirapeksha’ should be stopped because the actual word is ‘Panth Nirapeksha’.

Shri Rajnath Singh in his speech clearly mentioned that Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar had not used the words secular and socialist in original preamble of Indian constitution. It was through 42nd amendment that the preamble of constitution was amended by inserting two words ‘socialist’ and ‘secular’ into that.

Shri Rajnath Singh said that those who made constitution believed that preamble was soul of Indian constitution and it should not be changed. And despite of that preamble was amended through 42nd amendment. If mention of Socialist and Secular words was essential, Dr Ambedkar could add them to preamble. Possibly Dr Ambedkar was of opinion that these two elements were inbuilt in India’s basic nature.

Rajnath later explained in detail why Dr Ambedkar didn’t mention the words ‘secular’ and ‘socialist’ in constitution.

Rajnath said the meaning of secular is panth nirpeksh and not dharm nirpeksh. He said India’s faith(Dharma) is itself panth nirpeksh. Rajnath said even in Dr Amedkar’s time there were variety of devi,devta and panths. Rajnath argued if secular was equal to dharm nirpeksha then how come dharma chakra could be here over the chair of Lok Sabha Speaker? Should we remove this Dharma chakra also? Rajnath said all 72 factions of Islam are existing in India.

Congress MP Kharge who leads Congress party in Lok Sabha stood up while Rajnath Singh’s speech was underway and called Rajnath and others Aryans and therefore outsiders while calling himself (Dravid) original inhabitant of India. “You have come from outside. The Aryans have come from outside. We are not going to runaway,” Kharge said.
