The Sardarnagar police of Ahmedabad is investigating the alleged travel document lapse issue owing to which a total of nine passengers of the Ahmedabad-London Air India flight were off loaded yesterday by the emigration wing at Mumbai airport.
Police Inspector of Sardarnagar V R Patel said that the seven of the passengers were of one family and the remaining two were a couple. ‘All of them are basically from Punjab settled in Delhi and were going to El Salvador in Latin America via London for holidaying. They were sent back by the emigration wing last evening. For El Salvador they have visa on arrival but as per the emigration objection they don’t have proper transit visa for London. We are in touch with the competent authorities to verify the documents,’ he said.
Of the nine passengers who came here from Delhi to board the London flight, four were men, three women and two children.
Mr. Patel said that prima facie the documents looked okay but the main contention is about transit visa. They were claiming that there was no need of a separate transit visa in case of a visa on arrival arrangement. ‘We were looking in to it,’ he said.
