The under production movie of actor Shahrukh Khan ‘Raees’, reportedly based on the life of Ahmedabad based dreaded underworld mafia of 1980s Abdul Lateef who was gunned down by the crime branch of the city police during an encounter in Kotarpur area in 1997, is seemingly heading for a legal tangle now.

Son of Lateef, Mustaq Ahmed Sheikh has now sent legal notices to nine people associated with the movie including Shahrukh, film producer Ritesh Sidhvani, director Rahul Dholakia and co-actor Nawazuddin Sidiqui for allegedly trying to put his father in poor light.

Mustaq in his notice has claimed that his father was a businessman and the movie is said to be filming his character in a wrong way. Interestingly the son of the notorious don, who was wanted in over 120 cases including the sensational Radhika Gymkhana case related with the murder of nine people, has also asked for rights of the film as it is based on his father’s life. He has alleged that after the claim of the producer that the movies was based on his father he was trying for long to contact him or any other member or actor of the film unit but they were allegedly avoiding him.

‘Though the movies was based on the life of my father yet they have never once contacted me or any other family member to seek prior permission for it as per the legal procedure,’ he said adding further course of action would be decided after either getting a reply in the matter or passage of the time stipulated for it.

The movie slated to be released around Eid, was in limelight for other wrong reasons as well. Last month during its shooting in Ahmedabad and Kutch of Gujarat, Vishwa Hindu Parishad held several demonstrations against Shahrukh for his earlier remarks regarding intolerance in the country. Demanding ban on the shooting of the movie in Gujarat they even burnt effigies of the actor. His car was also pelted with stone here. Now, a set of old Ahmedabad has reportedly been erected in Mumbai based studio of the star to complete the movie rapidly.
