Tractor-Trolley falls in to open well in Gujarat, 10 die, over 25 injured

At least 10 people died and over 25 injured in a tragic mishap near Bhotwa-Gadh village under Kotamba police station area of Mahisagar district in central Gujarat today when a tractor-trolley taking a dead body for cremation fell in to an open well.

S P Mahisagar M K Amin said that the tractor-trolley carrying 39 people (all men) from adjoining areas to the cremation ground in Gadh suddenly lost control and slipped from a slope in to an open well. The dead body was also on the same trolley.

10 people have died and over 25 injured have been sent to the two nearby hospitals in adjoining Panchmahal district, the SP said. He did not rule out the possibility of death figure going further up.

Meanwhile Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel has expressed her grief and sorrow over the demise of 10 villagers in a tractor-trolley accident. She declared an aid of Rs 4 lacs to the next kin of each dead person. 29 villagers who are injured will be given treatment at government cost.
