Collector meets Congress MLAs, requests them not to protest Gujarat day event

Vadodara

District Collector of Chhota Udepur in central Gujarat held a meeting with local Congress MLAs Mohansinh Rathwa and Dhirubhai Bhil and convinced them to drop their protest against State level Gujarat day celebration scheduled to take place at Chhota Udepur on 1st of May, foundation day of Gujarat State.

Collector Jenu Devan held this meeting after Congress MLAs announced that they would protest the Gujarat day event with black flags.

Congress MLAs wanted to protest the event for delay in implementation fo Hafeshwar water supply scheme. They argue that while Morva Hadaf water supply scheme has been implemented with one year at a cost of Rs 137 crore and Dholi Dhaja water supply scheme could be completed in 45 days, why Hafeshwar water supply scheme of Chhota Udepur belt is delayed for last seven years? If this water supply scheme was completed on time, 180 villages could find solution of water supply problem. While Rs 14.52 crore amount could not be spent in tribal area, 133 mini water supply schemes are yet to be completed.

MLAs said Collector Jenu Devan is good person and their protest was only again the government.

It should be mentioned here that Hafeshwar water supply scheme was initiated in year 2009, but later the contract was terminated and contractor firm was fined Rs 13 crore. The project could never progress then after. Congress MLAs want the project to resume before 1st of May.
