Vishal Khokhani is native from Madhapar village near Kutch district headquarters Bhuj. He was student of engineering college in Morbi where Gujarat’s most famous hanging bridge is situated over river Machhu. Vishal decided to make mini version of Morbi hanging bridge in his village Madhapar.
Thanks to donation arranged by locals Damyantiben Madhaparia and Manjulaben Khokhani, Vishal has in just 22 days completed construction of a small and beautiful hanging bridge over river Pat in Madhapar.
A 72 ft long and 3.75 ft wide bridge has been made using 80% stainless steel.
Instead of wooden plates used in making of Morbi hanging bridge, Vishal has used aluminum catcher plates to build Madhapar hanging bridge.
Majority of materials was ordered from Kolkata to make Madhapar hanging bridge. 7 ropes of 25 mm stainless steel, 32 catcher plates of 6 mm size, 10 by 10 foundation etc material has jointly created a bridge which can bear weight of around 300 persons.
Supervised by Pravinbhai Khokhani, the construction was completed by Bhimjibhai Kerai, Laljibhai Dabasia, Bhupesh Dabasia, Piyushbhai Dabasia – all locals. The bridge is open for all without any entry charge. However if maintenance is needed in future, token entry charge will be levied. Pat river is dry and contains water only during a few days of monsoon. There are gardens located on both sides of the bridge.
