The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Gujarat police has nabbed a culprit from Jaipur, the capital city of neighboring Rajasthan, who had helped getting forged passport to a terrorist over a decade ago for fleeing to Pakistan.
ATS PSI C R Jadav today said that Govind Singh, who had helped Samir Khan Pathan, a terrorist who was later killed in an encounter, get a forged passport to flee to Pakistan, was nabbed from near the Mansarovar Metro station in Jaipur yesterday.
He was brought to Ahmedabad today and was handed over to the city crime branch for further action, Mr Jadav said.
He was an RTO agent who had initially helped Pathan get a forged driving license in fake name on the basis of which he later got a passport and went to Pakistan. Govind was booked under sections 120 B, 121 A, 122, 197, 198, 212 and 216 of the IPC in the case number 23/2002 lodged by crime branch here.
Pathan had allegedly killed a policeman to avenge the 2002 riots in Gujarat. Police had earlier in February this year arrested one more person Mohammed Salim from Tonk in Rajasthan. Salim had also helped him in getting the said fake Passport. Over a dozen persons have already been arrested in this connection.
