Gujarat govt announces 2% sports quota in college admissions

Gujarat government has announced 2% sports quota reservation in higher courses of education from this year, applications for which will need to be submitted by 21 June. The decision has been taken as per the Sports policy – 2016. Players victorious in international or national championship or having participated in or those who have won two gold medals in state level competitions in Khel Mahakumbh will be included in merit list for medical or engineering college admissions. Other merit list will be made covering players who have won national or international championship or participated in international championship or secured gold, silver or bronze medal in last two year Khel Mahakumbh at state level for courses other than medical and engineering.

28 games including Kho-kho, Kabbadi, Cricket, Chess and 24 games played in Olympic are suitable for Sports quota.

Online form will have to be filled on www.sportsauthorityofgujarat.in website. Filled up form and other documents will have to be submitted before 21 June 5.00 pm at Sports Authority of Gujarat office in Gandhinagar.
