Vadodara: A tragedy was averted last night in the government run SSG hospital here when a portion of the plaster of Paris made false ceiling of the ICU of the pediatric ward suddenly collapsed.
The incident took place on the third floor of the pediatric ward of the hospital when at least 4 children were under treatment there.
‘We have ordered the engineers concerned to look in to the incident. There were four children in the ward at the time of the incident at around 10 pm but fortunately none was injured,’ Superintendent of the hospital Dr. Rajeev Daveshwar said today.

He said that the building in which the false ceiling collapsed was over 100 years old.
‘There are around 40 wards in the hospital. Many blocks are very old and as per the master plan are being renovated,’ he said.
