Western Railway makes correction in Passenger Reservation System

Ahmedabad: Western Railway has made correction in its system for the heavy rush period of Dussehra to Diwali in its passenger reservation system. In existing system when some passenger fails to board the train, his/her vacant berth is allotted to current or waiting ticket holding passenger as per ticket checker’s wish. As the power lies to ticket checker, he is able to collect bribe money from passenger in exchange of allotment of seat. Annually 3 lakh tickets are adjusted this way, and total amount of collection/corruption is big. In corrected system, when some passenger fails to board train, his berth will be allocated to someone at top in waiting list from next stoppage. Such passenger will be informed about confirmation of his ticket via mobile phone. Also chart will be updated every minute and will be available online.
