More than one lakh crores came out without any surgical strike: PM Modi at Vadodara

Vadodara: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that owing to the efforts and credibility of his government over Rs one lakh crore of money has flown in to the exchequer without conducting any ‘surgical strike’ against black money hoarders.

Addressing a function to distribute aid equipment to around 10000 physically challenged people (Divyangs) at the Navlakhi ground here today Mr Modi said, ‘ I have fought a battle against corruption without speaking a word. I don’t believe in tall talks. Through the aadhar number (UID) linking and jan dhan yojana schemes the government has saved around Rs 36000 crores so far. This money which is being used for genuinely poor people now, used to flow to many in-entitled accounts in the name of gas subsidy, scholarships and pensions. But there was no one to raise a question about it.’

He further said that through the income declaration scheme this time around Rs 65000 of tax on unaccounted money has flown in to the government exchequer. ‘The earlier governments had also brought such schemes but with little use and owing to the credibility of my government such a huge sum has been collected,’ he said.

The Prime Minister said, ‘from both the schemes around one lakh crore has been collected which would be used for the benefit of genuinely poor people. You can imagine that if such a huge sum can be collected without any surgical strikes, what would happen if the surgical strikes (against the black money hoarders) are conducted.’

Mr Modi said that the whole world including the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and other credit rating agencies were praising the economic growth of India in the last two years while till the year 2013 and 2014 (before he came to power) the news of corruption and scams were the headlines in the newspapers.

‘A good, truthful and dedicated government can do many welfare works. This has been proved by our government,’ he said adding that development was the cure for all the problems being faced by the country.
