Bomb like object found near Ambaji temple, PSI claims it to be an unused fire-cracker left likely by marriage procession

Palanpur: A crude bomb like object found near the main gat of famous Ambaji temple in Banaskantha district of North Gujarat today put the police in tizzy.

While the SP Neeraj Badgujar said that he has called for the FSL squad and was rushing to the spot (Ambaji) the PSI of Ambaji U D Jadeja said that the bomb like object found near the Shri Shaktee Dwar of the temple at around 1100 am today was in fact a fire cracker most likely left unused by one of the several marriage processions crossing from close to the spot.

PSI Jadeja said that a team led by a DySP rank officer and Bomb Disposal Squad has checked it and it is nothing but a fire-cracker.

‘It is 100% a fire-cracker. It has been checked,’ the PSI said.

However, SP Badgujar looked a bit cautious about it and said that he would be able to comment once he reached the spot with FSL experts. To a query he said that the security around the temple was already quite strong.

The temple which has Sriyantram as its main deity and is deemed one of the 51 Sahktipeeth (power center) of mother goddess (Ma Amba) remains crowded with devotees most of the time.

The PSI said that the fire-cracker was a rounded one with some amount of gunpowder in it. He said that it was Anar or flower pots or fountains, one of the most popular firecrackers used during Varghoda.

Meanwhile, the finding of the bomb like object near the famous shrine close on heels of the arrest of 2 ISIS operatives from Saurrashtra region who were allegedly planning to plant bombs at various places and the mysterious recovery of a time-bomb in Rajkot, gave rise to various speculations.
