BJP gets UP, Uttarakhand, Congress gets Punjab

Ahmedabad: Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP), Gujarat unit has declared it will celebrate party’s victory in five-state elections at 12:39 pm today across all assembly segments and talukas.

Initial trends and results arrived by noon suggest that BJP is going to gain Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand states. These two states are presently ruled by BJP opponents – Samajwadi Party and Congress respectively.

Congress is getting clear majority in Punjab eliminating all hopes of Aam Admi Party(AAP) to gain another state after Delhi. The victory is being attributed to Congress’s Chief Ministerial candidate Amrinder Singh. Akali-BJP alliance(share of Akali-BJP seats in alliance was 80:20) has not done as bad as was predicted by poll pundits.

In Goa, BJP and Congress are going neck-to-neck at present with as usual some seats to independents which may prove crucial.

In Manipur, initial figures show, Congress may going to retain the state, but looking at the seat numbers, BJP’s surge is spectacular in this North Eastern state. BJP was hoping to gain Manipur. Hyped activist Iron Sharmila has lost against Chief Minister. Final results only will be able to tell the story.

In Uttarakhand, Chief Minister and Congress leader Harish Rawat has lost the election on Haridwar(rural) seat.

In Goa, AAP CM candidate Elvis Gomes was at third position in Cuncolim, Congress first, Independent second. BJP CM Laxmikant Parsekar has lost his seat.

In Punjab, Shiromani Akali Dal’s Bikram Singh Majithia was leading from Majitha against rivals. Aam Admi Party(AAP) had demonized Majithia throughout the campaign in worst possible way over drug issue.
