Religious leader in Kutch reportedly dies as per his prediction, surprises many skeptics

Bhuj: A local religious leader surprised many this evening when he reportedly left his mortal body in presence of hundreds of devotees in Barai village in Mundra taluka of Kutch district in Gujarat.
Around 82 year old Veljibhai Matia, a Dharmaguru of Kutchi Maheshwari community, had predicted the date of his death sometime ago claiming that he had come to know about the date and time of his death in a dream. He was also criticized by many for this so called superstitious belief.
His son Jagdish Matia today said said that his father left for heavenly abode at 6.05 pm this evening. He was not ill but had predicted about his death. Hundreds of devotees of his sect had assembled outside his residence in the village to have a ‘darshan’ of their guru.
What is interesting as well as somewhat startling is that he had visited his ‘would be’ Samadhai in Khambhada village of Anjar taluka sometime ago and also visited some of the religious places of his sect as a ‘preparation’ to his death.
His son said that the Palki Yatra (the procession with the mortal remains) would be taken out tomorrow morning from here to Khambhada, around 65 km away from here.
