3 including woman Sarpanch die owing to lightening, 2 children injured

Patan/Modasa/Anand: At least three people including a woman Sarpanch died owing to lightening in last 24 hours in separate incidents in North Gujarat while two children injured in yet another such incident in Central Gujarat this morning.

Police today said that the woman Sarpanch of Lodhi village in Vagrod area of Patan district, Chandrikaben died as lightening struck her last night. She had gone to her field in search of her cattle which had not returned after grazing. She was admitted to a hospital where she succumbed.

In yet another such incident in Mau Chhapra village in Bhiloda taluka of Aravalli district, two people died as lightening struck them amid light drizzle last evening.

Two children identified as Dhruv (2.5 yrs) and Harsha (4), son and daughter of Bharat Rathod, injured seriously when lightening struck them in Chhatardi village in Karamsad area of Anand district. They were playing in a field. They have been admitted to a hospital.
