CM extends Gujarat Textile Policy for one-year, till 03-09-2018
September 04, 2017
Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today extended the Gujarat Textile Policy (GTP) for one more year, till September 03, 2018. Originally the GTP was announced for five years’ term from 2012 to 2017.
The Chief Minister said that the objective of extending the policy for one-year is to strengthen the entire chain of farm-to-fiber-to-fabric-to-fashion-to-foreign of cotton producing and clothes industries in which the Gujarat is the front runner. This was a positive response from the government to the representative committee of these units and stake holders.
It should be noted that Gujarat has earned the prestige of becoming manufacturing hub of the country, in which the textile industry has contributed the lion share. With an idea to give more scope to this field, the Gujarat Government had announced five-year long textile policy in year-2012.
The GTP has completed its full term today, thus, the representative committee and former textile industrialists met the government and made representation.
