Ahmedabad:
Union Minister, Dalit leader and Lok Janshakti Party president Ram Vilas Paswan today said that PM Narendra Modi had not taken even a single step which went against Dalit, Patidar, OBC or any other community and his single focus was ‘development for all’.
Claiming that BJP will win both Himachal Pradesh as well as Gujarat elections overwhelmingly, he also said that there were people posing as leaders of Dalit, Patidar and OBC community in poll bound Gujarat but the result of the election would make it clear as to who was the true leader of these communities as well as all the communities.
Addressing a press conference here Paswan, an ally of BJP, said that India was like a garden where flowers of various castes and religions grew together. ‘It would be much better a scenario when people of non-Patidar communities, non-Dalit communities and non-OBC communities start raising the issues of these communities rather than their doing so themselves,’ he said.
He also said that BJP government took quick actions to set up a special court, filing charge sheet, arresting the culprits of a condemnable incident like Una dalit beating incident. ‘One can’t justify such incidents in any case but such small incidents took place in much greater number in states like Bihar during RJD supremo Lalu Prasad’s coalition government there. Lalu has become a synonym for corruption and law and order issues,’ he said.
He said that PM Modi had taken many steps for Dalits without making a show of it. He made Dalit Ramnath Kovind the president of India without making it an issue. He also alleged that during Congress regime the picture of Baba Sahab Ambedkar was also not visible in the parliament earlier on while the BJP led NDA government has created five memorials for him including the one at his birth place in Mahu.
To a query he said that his party LJP would take a call on fielding or not fielding candidates in Gujarat assembly polls keeping in mind that ally BJP benefit from it.
