At least five dead, over 70 injured in Dang bus accident: SP

Dang़-Ahwa: At least five children died and over 70 others injured when a bus carrying students of a private coaching/tutorial in Surat fell in a deep gorge in hilly Dang district of South Gujarat this evening.

Unconfirmed sources claimed that at least 5 children have died in the accident that occurred near Mahalpar village under Subir police station. The bus had taken more than 70 children of Khodiyar coaching in Amroli area of Surat for Picnic. It fell in an over 200 ft deep gorge near a turn when the driver lost control of the steering of the speeding bus.

However, SP Dangs Shweta Srimali said that so far one death has been confirmed and 71 others have been rescued and admitted to hospital in Ahwa. The rescue was still on.

‘It is a remote area where mobile phone connectivity was difficult.We also don’t know so far as to exactly how many students were there in the bus and where it had come from. The rescue efforts were on in full swing,’ she said.
