Despite resistance from fundamentalists and opposition parties my govt. resolute to bring law on triple talaq: PM Modi in Gujarat

PM Narendra Modi today said that his government was resolute to make law against the triple talaq menace despite the resistance from religious fundamentalists and opposition parties.

PM Modi, in his speech on the second and final day of the two day national conclave of BJP Mahila Morcha in Adalaj, said that his government was working for the social security of the women and preventing discrimination against them. Despite all the resistance from the fundamentalists and opposition parties his government was resolute to make a law against triple talaq so that the Muslim women could be freed from this big threat for their lives.
He said that for freeing Muslim sisters from discrimination his government has also eliminated the clause that made compulsory the companionship of a male member for a lady/woman going for Haj. ‘Now they can go for Haj alone without any dependency,’ he said.

He said that his government in last 4 and a half years has done so much for the women folk that it was not possible for anyone to count them during any one event.
PM Modi said that his government has taken harsh measures for rape cases. It has not only made the provision of capital punishment for rapists but has also increased the jail term to 20 years. It has also made mandatory the investigation of rape cases within two months.

Elaborating about various other steps his government has taken to ensure overall safety and security of women, he said that due to this the women and child mortality rates have fallen and the country was heading to a situation where not even a single delivery of woman would be done outside hospitals.
He appealed the woman activists of the party to win over the younger generation of women who were excelling in every field including sports and education. He also gave a mantra of ‘Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot’ (My booth strongest) to women activists and act for further strengthening the party at grassroot level by letting more and more women and other people know about the welfare steps taken by his government.
