Gandhinagar: Cabinet minister Kunvarji Bavaliya today said he is not going to contest the Lok Sabha election this year. He said his impact will be felt on 16 of total 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat. He said some Congress leaders were in his contact and they wished to join BJP.
Bavaliya said this after returning from Delhi. Bavaliya yesterday cancelled his scheduled engagements in his constituency town Vinchhiya and left for Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Prime Minister tweeted a photo of meeting with Bavaliya and said: Met Gujarat Cabinet Minister Shri Kunvarjibhai Bavaliya. Congratulated him on his win in the Jasdan by-poll and conveyed my best wishes in his endeavours towards serving the people of Gujarat and further strengthening BJP Gujarat.
Bavalia quoting this tweet said: The results reflect people’s faith in Honorable PM Shri @narendramodi ji’s developmental policies and vision of BJP India.
It’s worth noting that Bavalia, a veteran Congress leader and Koli community strongman from Rajkot rural, left Congress party to join BJP early this year and resigned as MLA of Jasdan. Within hours he was inducted as cabinet minister in Vijay Rupani government. This invited by-poll in Jasdan which Bavalia contested and won recently with doubled the margin. Bavalia is now a 6-term MLA, cabinet minister and former Lok Sabha MP.
