World’s largest Agrabatti making company in talks with Somnath and Ambaji temples for taking used-flowers for making incense sticks

Ahmedabad: World’s largest incense sticks (Agarbattis) maker, Mysuru based cycle pure Agarbattis, which uses used-flowers of the three big temples in Karnataka for making its products is in talks with two of the major shrines in the western state of Gujarat for taking offered flowers from there for similar purposes.

Managing Director of the company, which makes 12 billion carbon neutral incense sticks annually and also exports it to 65 countries including the US, Brazil and Mexico, Arjun Ranga today informed newsmen here.

The company is in talks with Somnath temple trust, which takes care of the administrative affairs of the temple that is the first among 12 Jyotirlingas (divine optical body) of Lord Shiva and also with the trust of Ambaji temple, one among the 51 divine power center of mother goddess (shakti-peetha).

Ranga, who also launched a new patented Agarbatti product Sandalum for Gujarat today, said that his company with 6 manufacturing units across the country has its main incense mixing unit at Mysuru. He was in talks with Somnath trust and Amabji temple trust for taking used flowers.’ Currently we take flowers from Chamundeshwari temple, Sri Lakshmi Venkataramanaswamy temple and Nanjundeshwara temple in Mysuru. We plan to add up more and more bigger temples who were also facing challenges in dealing with the large quantity of flowers offered daily. We take the flowers and dry them up and later use them in our product in powdered form. It not only helps in saving water bodies near the temples from getting contaminated but also adds up to the spiritual value of our products. The Somnath temple trust’s meeting is likely to be held next month and we may get a nod. We had done the collection of used up flowers on experimental basis for some time there. The flower collected from Gujarat temples would also be taken to Mysuru for use in our products,’ Ranga informed.

He said that his company has introduced a new patented Pure Fragrance Infusion System (PFIS) for our products and it will change the course of home-worship market in India.
