Over 70 arrested in central Gujarat for rioting and encroaching forest land: SP Leena Patil

Godhara: More than 70 people have been arrested by police in Kaliavav village of Panchmahal district in Central Gujarat for rioting, trying to encroach forest land and attacking government servant on duty, SP Leena Patil today said.

She categorically said that those nabbed were locals and people from neighboring Dahod district and were in way related to Naxalites or naxal activities, the overtone section of Gujarati news channels had given.

Patil said that some of the locals had invited their relatives and others with an intention to encroach upon forest land. They have also even collected some money from them. When forest officials went to the spot they even attacked them.

‘We have arrested more than 70 people in this connection and booked them under various sections pertaining to rioting, attack on government servant and obstructing from duty and encroaching forest land,’ she added.
