Gandhinagar: Due to ongoing situation pertaining to coronavirus pandemic and related lockdown, the state will have to face many challenges in coming days. In order to boost economic activities, attract investment in new projects and generation of employment, the State government has decided to exempt new projects from provisions of labour laws, with a condition that such new units will work for 1200 days. The rules under existing labour law, pertaining to minimum wages, safety, and compensation in cases of accidents will continue to be effective and there’s no relaxation in these three domains. Existing units will not get benefits of relaxations in labour laws. The State government will come out with ordinance for execution of this decision. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani shared this information today. He said, the State officials are working to attract the companies that want to leave China as Gujarat has plug and production facility for industrial projects available at locations including Sanand, Dahej, SEZs and GIDC estates, and Dholera.
