First Covid19 case detected in Gujarat’s only green zone district Amreli

Amreli: A 67-year old woman from Surat was detected Covid19 positive in Amreli. This is the first Covid19 positive case detected in Amreli, the only green zone district in Gujarat. The woman was destined to Timbla village in Amreli, however she had not entered the village.

‘A Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) bus with 27 passengers from Surat arrived at Amreli district border check post yesterday and a 67 year old woman passenger was found to have symptoms such as fever and cold at Chavad check post. She was sent to taluka quarantine centre at Khedul Talim Kenra. After further check, she was taken to Civil hospital as a suspected case. She was given oxygen during the night and meanwhile her test sample was sent to Bhavnagar based laboratory. Today at around 11.00 am she has been found Covid19 positive in test result. Contact tracing was initiated yesterday itself and 26 persons in her contact are allreay in quarantine and under observation,’ district collector said.

He added that the woman who has been detected as Covid19 positive didn’t enter the village and therefore there’s no containment area in the district. All shops and other businesses will continue to function. The patient is being treated as per the guideline prescribed by the Centre and the State. Health bulletin will be issued every day.
