Bhuj: After the opening of Ghaduli-Santalpur border national highway, the distance between Dholavira and Bhuj will become 125 kms. The current route for Dholavira from Bhuj via Bhachau and Rapar is 240 kms. Thus, a distance of around 115 km will be reduced after the opening of Gaduli Santalpur highway.

The road construction between Khavda and Khadir on Gaduli-Santalpur highway is almost complete but temporarily on halt due to rain and it will resume soon after the stretch becomes dry again. However the transportation of light vehicles continues on this road. The work of earthen road, gabion wall and dammar paper work will be carried out after the road dries off.

– Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government in Centre granted environmental clearance to construction of long delayed Ghaduli – Santalpur road in Kutch, aligned to the Rann of Kutch on 17th day of joining the office.

– The works were taken up by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Ghaduli end was extended to Lakhpat. Thus the project was now Lakhpat – Santalpur road.

– The ongoing work faced delay due to the issue of colony of dhomda bagla birds and due to heavy rain.

– The road stretch passes through 30 km of Rann area, a very difficult area for permanent construction.

– Out of 30 km, the soil road work was completed between Dholavira and Tragdi bet in 12 km stretch. Later soil road work of four km work between Tragdibet and Kadhwandh was also completed. Only 14-15 km works were pending that are now almost completed.

– Dholavira – Kadhwandh Rann road completed

– If rains continue to halt for next couple of days, the vehicles will start running on new road from Bhuj to Dholavira.

– Only 3 km work is pending in Rann which shall be completed when it dries up.

– This same road when ready will serve for transportation to proposed largest solar-wind hybrid power generation park.

– The second phase works of a road connecting Lakhpat to Khawda are pending.

– Once a 30 km Rann between Dholavira and Kadhwandh and 9 km Rann of Madhutra is connected through road, Dharmshala border area will also be linked to this road. DeshGujarat
