August 13, 2021
Ahmedabad: Dholka Sunni Muslim community submitted a memorandum to the Mamlatdar of Dholka on 12th August requesting to prohibit any religious functions in the Valisha Pir Dargah in Lilejpur area of Dholka to prevent the conflicts between Shia and Sunni Muslim community there.
Sunni Muslim community handed-over a memorandum signed by 200 persons to the Dholka Mamlatdar Pritiben Patel. As per the memorandum, it was clearly stated during the registration of the Valisha Pir Dargah in Waqf Board that only a person belonging from Sunni Muslim community is eligible for being trusty of the Dargah and a person from Shia Community had wrongly become the trusty despite the same. Later, Gujarat Waqf Tribunal had dismissed him and appointed a person from Sunni Muslim Community as trusty. So, the dismissed person has filed a revision in the Gujarat High Court which is pending at present.
It was added in the memorandum that there is a possibility of conflicts between Shia and Sunni community if any function or program will be organised in the compound of the Valisha Pir Dargah due to the unresolved disputes. The memorandum demands an immediate order to refrain the people of any community from arranging any religious functions in the compound of Valisha Pir Dargah to maintain peace in the city.
