Surat: The accused of the first love-jihad case of Surat filed at Dindoli Police Station is found to be father of a 32-year-old woman.
Dindoli Police had filed an FIR after a protest by Hindu Jagran Manch for 28 hours. The Police Inspector had not filed a complaint despite the victim complaining about her suffering 3 months ago at the police station. Then the victim woman had approached Hindu Jagran Manch for help. Police was earlier willing to file a crime under dowry in this case despite it was clearly a case of Love-Jihad. However, a crime under Anti-love Jihad Act is finally filed against the accused Shaikh Mohammed Akhtar Shaikh Mohammed Samat Ali. Police Commissioner Ajay Tomar also looked into this case and he said that the role of the police in this case also needs to be verified.
The 32-year old daughter of the accused is also mother of children, as per the police sources. The 51-year old accused Muslim man had married 22-year-old victim woman by giving fake identity as a Hindu man employed in the railways and forced the Hindu female to adopt Islam, perform Namaz and wear a Burqa after his identity was revealed. The accused is found to be already married to another woman before his marriage with the victim woman and a father of a 32-year old daughter. The police are further investigating if other women are trapped by the accused in a similar way. DeshGujarat
