Surat: Minister of State for Railways Darshanaben Jardosh has announced re-start an old narrow-gauge train connecting Waghai in Dang with Bilimora in Navsari district of South Gujarat from 4th September onwards.
A narrow-gauge train connecting Waghai with Bilimora with coal as its fuel was originally started during Gayakwad rule for transportation of timber and other goods. Mumbai Railway department had stopped this train service citing the reason of economic losses amidst Covid-19 pandemic.
Locals in South Gujarat had protested against the sudden suspension of this old train. Local leaders of ruling and opposition parties had appealed repeatedly to restart this train service. In response to this, Valsad based Railway staffers had conducted a trial of the engine and another trial with bogie several days ago. MoS for Railways Darshanaben Jardosh also announced that this train will have an AC coach.
