Closed private unit in Porbandar to restart functioning with intervention of Govt

Porbandar: A unit of private company Orient Abrasives Ltd in Porbandar will resume functioning before upcoming Diwali, it is learnt.
The factory of Orient Abrasives was closed from 15th October due to the shortage of raw materials. Rajya Sabha MP Rambhai Mokariya undertook mediation by holding a meeting between the company officials and CM Bhupendra Patel to resolve the issue of raw materials. CM Bhupendra Patel has assured on the spot for resolution of the issue of bauxite. The company provided employment to over 1250 families.
Orient Abrasives had laid off the workers on 15th October and told them that the company has been facing shortage of the required prime quality raw bauxite since around one and a half years and the company is unable to arrange it despite many efforts. The power plant and furnace department of the company were shut from June 2021. The management has closed the company as the production process was not possible due to shortage of raw-materials.
