November 16, 2021
Gandhinagar: The collusion between Rajasthan RTO and touts is alleged of running a scam of cheating the tourists traveling to Rajasthan from Gujarat in the name of e-tax of the vehicles.
Several shopkeepers around Maval check-post between Palanpur-Abu at Rajasthan border are doing business of paying e-tax online of the vehicles. The tourists from Gujarat visiting Rajasthan have to pay the tax as per the days for which the passenger vehicles stay in Rajasthan in case the vehicle is not personal but taxi. Many shops have popped up to issue temporary permits of such kind and the banner of Government of Rajasthan atop them.
The director of Rajpath club, Anil Shah had recently visited Rajasthan with his family and friends and the driver of their passenger bus had paid e-tax in a similar kind of a shop after crossing border and entering Rajasthan. The shopkeeper had issued a receipt with the name of ‘Department of Transport, Tax e-receipt’ written on it. There was also a logo of Rajasthan Transport Department along with the text of Government of Gujarat. Later the RTO van had stopped the bus near check post when it was returning to Gujarat. The driver had shown the receipt of payment of e-tax. The officials had said that the receipt was bogus and they are supposed to pay ten times penalty, of an amount of Rs 40 thousand for it; and they had issued a memo. DeshGujarat
