Gandhinagar: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has nabbed a deputy engineer of Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (MGVCL) in bribe case involving Rs. 60,000 sum. Accused is class one officer working with State government.
According to ACB, accused Dilipkumar Vasaiya works with Tarapur sub zonal office in Anand district with MGVCL. He took bribe in the office itself.
ACB note said, a complainant in this case had taken a land on rent for farming of lotus. In order to have agri power connection, he had submitted application with required documents at MGVCL office and paid fee. However he was served notice that he can’t get agri power connection as the location he has specified is a water body where no farming takes place. When applicant met the official in-person, he was told that he would need to pay Rs. 2 lakh. After bargaining the sum was reduced to Rs. 60,000.
As complainant didn’t want to pay bribe, he contacted ACB, following which a trap was arranged and the accused was held while receiving bribe money. DeshGujarat
