Ahmedabad: An initiative embarked on by The Government of Gujarat, contracted to Aerotrans Services to provide helicopter joy rides at the Sabarmati River Front in Ahmedabad, completed one month of uninterrupted joy ride service operations.

Aerotrans commenced the helicopter joy rides from the Water Aerodrome on Sabarmati River front on 1 January 2022.

Since then, 600 individuals have taken a joy ride in the month of January which is 100% capacity per month.

Each ride covers an aerial view of the River Front, Patang Restaurant, Sabarmati Ashram, Sabarmati Jail, Torrent Power, Narendra Modi Stadium besides other landmarks.

Aerotrans has 2 Bell 407 model helicopters, one for the rides and another standby helicopter which otherwise is used to offering helicopter charters.

All helicopter ride bookings are done online through the website of Aerotrans at

Covid protocols are well maintained to ensure proper hygiene and safety for all passengers.

The rides are conducted under the supervision of Ahmedabad Air Traffic Controller.

Going further, Aerotrans assures uninterrupted rides for the coming months, up to 600 persons per month.

There are on-going discussions to start the joy rides from Science City, which could commence from March 2022.

Current Joy Ride details:

Schedule: Up to 8 times a month, on Fridays and Saturdays

Number of helicopter rides on each of the days: 15

Number of passengers per ride: 5

Total number of passengers per day: 75

Total number of passengers per month: 600

Each ride flying time: 9 to 10 minutes

Charges per ride: INR 2,360
