ACB Gujarat nabs GWSSB engineer in Rs. 25,000 bribe case

Rajkot: Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) Gujarat has nabbed deputy executive engineer of Gujarat Water Supply and Sewerage Board (GWSSB) sub section of Vichhiya, and additional charge at Jasdan office in Rajkot district in a bribe case of Rs 25,000.

The tender of Rs 6,48,000 for the works of installing RCC pump of 50 thousand litre, 2-2 metre size pump house, and 3250-PVC pipeline was approved for the complainant. The complainant had completed the works on 29th November 2021. The net amount of Rs 2,80,175 for the first bill was deposited in his company’s bank account at BOB. The second bill of Rs 3,01,881 had remained pending. So, the complainant had called the accused deputy executive engineer Sandip Hemchandra Joshi. The accused had earlier demanded a bribe of Rs 45,000 considering 7 percent of the bill, for releasing the bill and security deposit. The bribe was reduced to Rs 25,000 after arguments.

The complainant contacted ACB as he was not willing to pay the bribe. The accused was found taking a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the complainant during a trap executed by ACB on 11th February 2022. DeshGujarat
