Public sector banks strike during 26-29 March

Gandhinagar: Members of Maha Gujarat Bank Employees’ Association (MGBEA) has announced a nation-wide strike of public sector banks from 26th to 29th March to protest the alleged anti-public sector banks policies of the government.

MGBEA estimates that the strike will impact transactions worth Rs 20,000 crore over a 2-days period. MGBEA general secretary Janak Rawal said that their protest against the government’s bid for privatization of public sector banks will continue. He added that the government is putting public money in private hands instead of making efforts to strengthen the public banking system. Among the other demands made by their association include making contract workers permanent, he said.
