Congress leads protest against proposed Mumbai-Delhi Expressway

Vansda: A protest rally was held on Wednesday from Hanumanji temple of Vansda to the mamlatdar office under the leadership of the Chikhli Congress MLA to protest against the proposed Mumbai-Delhi Expressway, which will pass through Khambhaliya village in the eastern part of Vansda taluka. A memorandum to the effect was also submitted to the deputy mamlatdar.

Gujarat is going to witness the regular election of State assembly later this year, possibly in December. MLA Anant Patel has emerged as serial agitator. He comes up with newer issues, mostly against the development projects that are proposed to take shape through or in tribal populated areas.

The rally, which was accompanied by lot of sloganeering against the expressway project, was a culmination of several night meetings that were organized in the villages of Khambhaliya, Unai, Nani Bhamti and Rani Faliya.

Near the taluka seva sadan, Congress MLA Anant Patel, declared that this government comes up with proposals of new roads and other such projects only to usurp the land of tribal farmers. He added that the National Highway 56 was still functional but this new expressway had been proposed so that the government’s favorite companies could be given the right to collect toll-tax.

Patel also expressed confidence that no farmer in his constituency will give even one inch of land for the Mumbai-Delhi Corridor. DeshGujarat
