Ankleshwar: An attempt to rob gold worth crores of rupees from Muthoot Finance’s branch in Ankleshwar failed after one of the sirens went off, and the burglars had to flee the spot without the gold out of fear of being nabbed by the police.
The burglars had even rented a shop just next to the Muthoot Finance branch just 10-12 days back for this purpose. They had also purchased equipment such as gas-cutter, punch, hammer, spanners and pliers especially for this purpose.
On Saturday at midnight, the burglars drilled a hole in the common wall between the shop they had rented and Muthoot Finance’s branch office. Through this gaping hole, the burglars had entered the Muthoot Finance branch along with their tools and equipment. They even managed to cut off the wires of one or two sirens. However, at around 12.30 AM, one of the sirens still went off and they had to leave empty-handed out of fear of getting caught by the police.
A complaint regarding the burglary attempt was filed at the city police station. The police have begun an exercise to find out the whereabouts of the burglars with the assistance of the dog squad and FSL.
Police investigation has revealed that the burglars had rented the shop next to Muthoot Finance just 10-12 days ago, for which they had also signed a rent agreement. DeshGujarat.
