Very heavy rain forecast for Dwarka, Porbandar, Valsad during 5-10 July

Gandhinagar: Dwarka, Porbandar and Valsad are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rain from 5th to 10th July, 2022. The weather watch group’s review meeting was held in Gandhinagar under the leadership of the relief commissioner and secretary.

Relief commissioner instructed to deploy one team of NDRF in Kutch district due to forecast of heavy rains. Total 9 teams of NDRF are deployed including one in each Gir Somnath, Navsari, Banaskantha, Valsad, Surat and Bhavnagar, two in Rajkot, and one in Kutch. One SDRF team is deployed in Porbandar.

The agriculture department in this meeting informed that the cultivation of kharif crop in the current year till 4th July 2022 is around 3020616 hectares. It was 4053982 last year during the same period.

Irrigation department informed that there is 144070 MCFT water storage in Sardar Sarovar, which is 43.12 percent of total storage capacity. There is 187629 MCFT water storage in 206 water bodies across the state which is 33.61 percent of total storage capacity. One water body is on high alert and one on warning at present. DeshGujarat
