Surat: A consultancy has started work on conducting a survey to develop a logistical plan to ensure that heavy vehicles transporting cargo for industries of Surat city can be kept outside the city limits. A City Logistic Co-ordination Committee has also been formulated for the purpose.
Recently, the State Logistic Coordination Committee and State Logistic Cell, all municipal corporations and urban authorities held a joint meeting. After the meeting, Surat Municipal Commissioner, who had attended the meeting, informed that a logistical plan had also been included under the ‘PM Gati-Shakti Yojana,’ which will generate employment opportunities.
Under the logistical plan, Gothan and Hajira as well as Kadodra and Palsana will be connected by roads. Also at spots such as Hajira, Sayan, Pipodra, Laskana, Antroli, Bhestan, Kadodra, and Palsana, where there is heavy vehicular traffic, decisions will be taken keeping in mind arrangements for transportation, parking facilities and maintenance of track terminals.
GIDB and Ekam Consultancy have initiated work on conducting the survey for the logistical plan in Surat. The survey will take 6 months and the plan will be chalked out according to the findings of the survey.
Giving further details, the municipal commissioner had said that a plot of 8 lakh square meters has been kept as reserve for a logistic park under SUDA’s DP 2035 on the Surat-Palsana highway near Sachin Industrial Park at Bhatia, Antroli in Palsana.
The logistic plan will be such that it will allow vehicles direct entry to the 90 m National Highway apart from the Delhi-Mumbai national highway no 8.
The logistical plan will be worked out keeping in mind the population of rapidly developing Surat city in 2030. Aspects such as how many units are available where, and how many hubs would be needed, where to create parking facility will all be kept in mind while making the logistical plan. DeshGujarat
