Sabarmati: The city of Ahmedabad received heavy rainfall on Sunday evening. It was almost sudden, as the day-time was quite normal and non-happening so far as rainfall was concerned.
As per the official data shared by the AMC, the rainfall during 6 to 9 pm on Sunday was upto 3.20 inches. Underbridges including Mithakhali, Makarba and Parimal were closed for traffic due to water logging. Five gates of Vasna barrage over river Sabarmati were opened in four ft measurement to allow fast discharge of logged rain water in low lying areas.
The thunderstorm condition was so intense that it brought an almost curfew-like situation on the roads of the city on Sunday evening as most of the people chose to stay inside.
