Unused govt quarters to be vacated for re-allotment

Gandhinagar: The Paatnagar Planning Department during a raid had detected 30 homes allotted under government housing schemes that have either been sub-let or are lying vacant. With the aim of reducing the numbers on the waiting list, it has now been decided to take back possession of all such homes that have been allocated under government housing schemes but are lying unused. A letter to this effect will be dispatched to all concerned departments and institutions.

In many cases, government departments are allotted one or more houses and many of them are lying vacant. The plan to is write a letter to the personal beneficiary, the government department or the institution urging them to surrender the homes that are vacant. If the need arises, the allotment could itself be canceled and the vacant home could directly get repossessed.

There are even plans to recover rent from the date of allocation as per prevailing market rates on the homes that are found lying vacant. DeshGujarat
