Surat: The tender notice for the construction of Surat Municipal Corporation’s new administrative building has been issued. The tallest government building in the state will likely incur an expense of Rs 1,080 crore. Two 106 m tall towers with 28 storeys each, including a podium floor, will be constructed. About 14 lakh square feet of construction area has been proposed.
The administrative building will be built on the plot where the sub-jail currently stands on the ring road. The technical expert committee (STC) had approved the SMC’s new administrative building a fortnight ago on July 8. Of the two towers proposed to be constructed, one will be reserved completely for offices of the civic body, while the other tower will accommodate other state government and central government offices. The tenders have decided on a time frame of 36 months for the completion of the construction of the new administrative building.
The whole building will incur an expense of Rs 1000 crore for construction and Rs 80 crore to maintain it for 5 years.
