Upcoming barrage on Tapi River in Surat to look like Mumbai Sea Link

Surat: The conventional barrage project from Rundu to Bhatha on the Tapi river is in progress. Its tenders are approved. The office bearers of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) visited Singapore to get details for the bridge. The bridge will be built at the cost of Rs 80 crore and its maintenance cost will be Rs 80 crore for 5 years. The population of 20 lakh will directly benefit from this project.

It will be a barrage from Rundh to Bhatha. A diaphragm wall will be built from there, turning at 90 degrees and going towards Pal Haweli. People will be able to use it as a flyover. The barrage will be straight from Rahulraj mall to Bhatha. It will take a 90-degree turn from the right side at Bhatha.

The barrage will be 1 km long and the 700-meter long approach will start from in front of Rahul Raj mall. A bridge will be built for a total of 4 km including 2 km from Bhatha to Pal Haweli on the barrage. The barrage once completely built, will look similar to Mumbai Sea Link.
