Amreli: Union Cooperative Minister Amitbhai Shah speaking here today said that the concept of Sahkar se Samruddhi was introduced to India by Prime Minister Narendra modi. Shah revealed a secret that it was Parshottam Rupala who first spoke to Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi about need to have a separate Cooperation ministry in the Centre.
Rupala had suggested PM Modi for setting up Cooperation ministry
“Rupala saheb was Minister of State for Agriculture. Rupala ji just stated how cooperative leaders were treated at Krushi Bhavan. Today I am going to open a secret. It was Parshottam Rupala ji who for the first time spoke about the formation of the Cooperation ministry in the Centre to Narendrabhai. Then Modi saheb told me to look into it. I replied that saheb there’s nothing to look into it, just do it as it’s worth doing. And Modi saheb formed a separate Cooperative ministry in an attempt to bring prosperity to crores of farmers of the country,” Shah said addressing the joint meeting of seven cooperatives of Amreli district.
Narendrabhai’s decision to unlock the dairies in Saurashtra
“I was home minister and Narendrabhai was Chief Minister here. The Congress people had locked the dairies of Saurashtra after doing Rafaleshwar and other scams. They had failed all the dairy here on the land of Saurashtra. There was no cooperative dairy here. The milk producers were exploited. Then Chief Minister Narendrabhai provided capital funds to all dairies and restarted them. Today dairies here are functioning very well and the women get payment every tenth day on this land of Jafrabadi buffalo and Gir cows. Against 2500 liter milk processing in 2002 when Modi saheb became Chief Minister, today 1.25 lakh litre milk is processed here. Every tenth day, farmers get Rs. 5 to 6 crore in their bank account. Modi ji has also started honey movement. Amar dairy has today started honey production. The farmers should take the honey production boxes from the dairy and take benefit of this opportunity of honey production.”
Cooperation Policy, Cooperation University, Bylaws
“Against 65,000 cooperative seva societies existing in the country at present, in the next five years we want to scale this count up to 3 lakh seva sahkari mandli starting from December this year countrywide. We are going to bring a new Sahkar Niti involving various sectors such as banks, insurance, transportation, and tourism. Sahkar University will be formed for training of members for which Rs. 55 crore allocation has been made in the budget. National Sahkari Data Bank has been initiated to collect the number of cooperative societies and their health. Some States are not cooperating in providing the numbers of societies. The data will be made online in cooperation with states. We want cooperatives not to function only for offering loans, but also to work in the domains of marketing, godown, gobar gas, power generation etc. New gas distribution agencies will be offered to cooperatives. PCO, Jal Se Nal programme execution will also be offered to Cooperative societies. Model bylaws in this regard are ready and by the end of September, it shall be circulated in order to make Seva Sahkari Mandlis across the nation profit-making.”
