Over 50 Ex-Bureaucrats object Kejriwal’s remark in Gujarat; write letter to Election Commission

Gandhinagar: Arvind Kejriwal’s words have come to haunt him once again. As many as 56 Ex-Bureaucrats have written a scathing letter to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) demanding the withdrawal of the Aam Aadmi Party’s recognition as a party.

The ex-bureaucrats accused the AAP convener of inducing & politicizing the government servants for his party’s gain in the election.

Former civil servants wrote in the letter, “We totally disapprove of blatant efforts of AAP to politicize civil servants. We reiterate that civil servants are meant to be non-partisan and serve the Government and the people and execute policies adopted by the Parliament and the executive.”

The letter said that by mendaciously asking public servants to work for the AAP, Kejriwal has ignored that civil servants are bound by the Code of Conduct.

AAP national convener in a press conference in Gujarat on Sept 3 had urged civil servants and other government employees of different departments such as police, home guards, drivers of state transport etc. to promote the Aam Aadmi Party before the upcoming election.

“Through his unacceptable comments, public servants have been relegated to being employees of political parties in power. We firmly believe that such instigative comments, coming from the convener of the AAP and a sitting Chief Minister diminishes public confidence in institutions and guardians of the state,” the letter further attacked Arvind.

The BJP-ruled Gujarat is heading to the election later this year and Arvind Kejriwal is trying to take the reigns of power by wooing voters with guarantees and weekly visits to the state.
