Cheater impersonates self at Kanishka Singh, aide of Rahul Gandhi, seeks money for election ticket

A cheater allegedly tried to steal money from a former congress MP from Vadodara by faking himself as PA of congress leader Rahul Gandhi and demanding money from him to offer a ticket for the upcoming state assembly election.

Former congress MP Satyajitsinh Gayakwad had demanded a ticket from the congress party for Waghodia seat in Vadodara district. He had got two WhatsApp calls at 6.24 pm and 6.30 pm on 1st November. The call was not received when he called back. So, he dropped a message. He got a call again at 7.15 pm and the name of Rahul Gandhi’s PA (Personal Assistant) Kanishk Singh was mentioned in it.

The person who called introduced himself as Kanishka Singh and told that the team of secret observers of Rahul Gandhi is going to come to Vadodara. He asked the former MP to transfer money for the arrangement of a hotel for the team if he wants a ticket for Waghodia constituency. He has also given an account number of a bank based in Mauritius. He had also said that extra money will also be demanded for the ticket. The former MP doubted because he knew Kanishk Singh. So, he decided to file a police complaint and sent WhatsApp screenshots and bank details to the cyber cell.

Cyber Cell ACP Hardik Makadiya informed that the cheaters are found to be a gang from Punjab. The accused cheater had tried to earn the trust of the former MP by talking about internal matters of the Gujarat congress. He had told the former congress MP that he will get a call from congress president Kharge after he transfers the money. When the former congress MP asked the cheater, pretending to be Kanish Singh, that why his voice seemed different, he replied that it was because he was tired after a Pad yatra with Rahul Gandhi.
