Discontent in Gujarat Congress on election tickets

Ahmedabad: The congress cadres from Northern Gujarat town Kadi reached State party headquarters and asked party leaders to change the candidate declared for Kadi assembly seat. They alleged that Pravin Parmar, a candidate whose name is announced by the party for Kadi seat purchased the ticket by paying Rs. 1 crore.

Similar controversies have arisen for other congress seats namely Deesa, Manjalpur, Akota, Pardi, and Ellibridge.

In the case of Manajalpur and Akot seats, Congress cadres have gone to the media to voice their displeasure. In the case of Ellisbridge, the son of a Congress cadre who was denied a ticket threw black ink over the party leader Bharatsinh Solanki. While the party has not declared its candidate for the Keshod seat, all major office bearers of the party’s Keshod unit reached party headquarters today and told party leaders not to sell tickets to outsiders, or they would resign.

In the case of Kadi, the protesting leaders of the Senma (Ravat) community have suggested the names of two other candidates.

Similar agitations were made against the selection of candidates for two seats in Vadodara namely Dr Tashwin Singh for Manjalpur and Rutvik Joshi for Akota. Manjalpur candidate Dr Tashwin Singh had recently joined congress 3 days ago after leaving NCP. The local members of congress also agitated against the selection of Jayshreeben Patel for Pardi as a candidate. DeshGujarat
