Kutch : Gujarati singer Geeta Rabari opened up about the pivotal role of PM Narendrabhai Modi in her career and stated that he guided her like a father throughout the journey.
She said that she is from a village named Tappar near Anjar in Kutch. She belongs from Maldhari community, associated with cattle keeping business, she said. Her family used to live in jungles, rather than a village or city, due to availability of cattle feed and her parents were not literate, she said. Her father once received the slip of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign run by the then Gujarat CM Narendra Modi at their home in village. The slip was sent to every house. Her father decided to educate her after being inspired from the slip. He decided to shift to the village and start other trade there, for her studies. Thus, she was sent to school for studies.

She said that she went on a school picnic at Rann Utsav two-three years after joining school. The then Gujarat CM Narendra Modi was also present there and met the local school kids. He asked them to perform something one by one like singing, jokes and so on. She said that she sang a couple of songs in Kutchi language at that time. Modiji appreciated her and gave Rs 250 as reward. He called her teacher and told him to make her focus on the studies and also encourage singing. Singer Gita Rabari said that PM Modi has played father-like role for career and studies of many daughters of the country.
She said further that he easily identified her when she met him again after he became PM and told her that she has grown up. He appreciated her for performing songs in mother tongue and preserving the culture. He also advised her to finish her studies.
She said that PM Modi has re-built Kutch after the Earthquake 2001. It includes developing Kandla port, resuming Rann Utsav, establishing of various companies in various areas and rebuilding the villages. Kutch has become prosperous today and everybody in involved in various works, she added.
