Ex Dahegam MLA alleges ticket for money in Congress
November 18, 2022
Ahmedabad: On Thursday, Former Congress MLA Kaminiba Rathod made the surprising accusation that she was asked to pay Rs 50 lakh in order to get the Dehgam seat ticket. However, the state party leadership asserted that no one from the party made such a demand and demanded an exhaustive probe into the situation.
In a video message, Rathod, a Congress MLA from the Dehgam seat from 2012 to 2017, stated that the party demanded payment for a ticket. “I couldn’t raise the money, so the ticket was sold to someone else. An unidentified caller informed me that unless I pay the fine, I won’t receive the ticket. The demand was initially for Rs 1 crore but was then lowered to Rs 50 lakh, she claimed.
The state party’s spokesman, Manish Doshi, claimed that Rathod’s accusations lacked merit. Other candidates have also voiced complaints about unscrupulous touts demanding money in exchange for tickets. These complaints are being taken seriously by the party. In these circumstances, we urge that the police conduct a comprehensive investigation,” he stated.
Vakhatsinh Chauhan is running for the Congress from the Dehgam seat.
