Congress party wiped out in 22 of 33 districts in Gujarat Polls 2022

Gandhinagar: Out of 33 districts of the state, congress has been wiped out in 22 districts. On the other hand, 41 candidates of Congress and 128 candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party lost their deposits. Out of 182 seats in Gujarat Assembly, Bhartiya Janta Party won 156, Congress 17, Aam Aadmi Party five and others three, and Samajwadi Party one.

BJP snatched away all 6 seats in Kutch from the congress party that won them in the last election. BJP has secured this win for the first time since 1995.

In the Saurashtra region, Congress could only win in 3 districts, which were Gir Somnath, Junagadh, and Porbandar.

Out of 5 seats in Junagadh district, one seat has gone to Congress and one seat to Aam Aadmi Party, while BJP won 3. The BJP was wiped out in the 2017 elections in the Amreli district but it captured all these seats in 2022 leaving congress with nothing.

In the central Gujarat region which has the highest number of seats that is 61, Congress only secured victory on 5 seats. Out of 21 seats of Ahmedabad city + District, BJP has won 19, wrapping congress up on only 2 seats which are Danilimda and Jamalpur Khadia. The rest 3 seats that congress managed to win are Anklav, Khambhat from Anand, and Lunawada of Mahisagar.

South Gujarat gave the biggest blow to congress with it only winning 1 seat out of 35. Out of these 35, BJP took 33 and AAP won 1. The seat that congress won was Vansda (Bansda) in Navsari.

Congress party has won 25 % of seats in North Gujarat with victory on 8 seats, that too is 9 short of what it had won in 2017. These seats are Patan, Chanasma, Vav, Kankrej, Vadgam, Danta, Vijapur, and Khedbrahma. Out of 9 seats in Banaskantha, Congress has won 4 seats and BJP has won 4 seats while one has gone to an independent. So if any district was a saving grace for the Congress party in the results of the Gujarat assembly elections, it is the district of Banaskantha.
